CTM is a drug containing chlorpheniramine maleate. Chlorpheniramine maleate included in the category of allergenic agents, namely histamine (H1-receptor antagonist). Chlorpheniramine maleate has the chemical name 2-Pyridinepropanamine, b-(4-chlorophenyl)-N, N-dimethyl.
This medication is used to relieve sneezing, itching, watery eyes, itchy nose or throat, and runny nose caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or other respiratory allergies.
Animal studies of the drug showed no fetal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the first trimester, and there is no evidence of risk in the next trimester.
These drugs have sedative effects are relatively weak compared with first-generation antihistamines. Chlorphenamine is often combined with phenylpropanolamine to form an allergy medication with antihistamines and decongestants.
